The EDS subscription is a joint BC ELN / e-HLbc license. Both consortia receive the same group participation discount. Since last year, there have been a number of new BC ELN partner libraries join the license. Following are the negotiated discounts and increases for the next 3 years:

2017-18: 0% increase and 20% discount

2018-19: 0% increase and 25% discount

2019-20: 2% increase and 25% discount

  • First Nations Health Authority
  • Ministry of Children and Family Development / Ministry of Health
  • Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia

To CANCEL or become a NEW SUBSCRIBER, Health Sector member institutions should contact e-HLbc by June 2, 2017.

New subscribers should contact e-HLbc at their earliest convenience to implement EDS which can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. New subscribers will get access immediately after implementation.

Late Subscription:

Late joins to the license are welcome.

Additional Information:
  1. License Start Date - July 1, 2017 is the license start date. However, BC ELN has negotiated rolling implementation. That means that those institutions who join the EDS subscription early could get free access once EDS has been set up for their institutions.
  2. 3-Year Commitment - EBSCO has agreed to an annual license; however, to lock in these deep discounts, BC ELN and e-HLbc have negotiated a 3-year good faith commitment for participants. Of course, in the case of economic emergencies, institutions may drop at the annual renewal with no penalty.
  3. Price increases - BC ELN and e-HLbc have negotiated that price increases for EDS will be no more than 2% annually until 2020.
Preamble:

Pricing for 2017/18 is now available for EBSCO's Discovery Service [2] (EDS). Base EDS costs will increase from zero (0%) to two (2%) percent this year, depending on final participation levels, but overall members will see a reduction in the pricing due to a large increase in participation compared to 2016/17.
